I never really thought of myself as a heavy user of the photo features of my electronic devices, but with the iPad, I find myself taking pictures of all sorts of things from my five year-old's art to classroom occurrences to a quick shot of a whiteboard done in class. Then, of course, I want to publish the photos in some way. Uploading them to Flickr, putting pictures in a Keynote or iBook, or just adding the photos to Showbie so students can see 'em are now daily occurrences.
Since the pictures aren't always perfect, a good, friendly editing app is a must. Also, when including photos in other documents, it can be important to consider the resolution of the picture to be sure the resolution is suitable for the way you are going to use it. Here are a couple of apps that I've used happily over the last eleven months since I've had the iPad.
Simple Resize: Our iPads take gorgeous screenshots and photos for our retina displays! BUT if you're using the photos to create content or upload to the Internet, the high resolution means big files that can quickly explode the size of a file or project that includes them. For many applications, you can successfully cut down the resolution without noticeable quality loss in your final project. Simple Resize is an iPhone app that works fine on the iPad to resize photos one at a time. Simple and easy to use, it saves the new file to your camera roll in your choice of JPEG or PNG file formats.
